tradition of riding to the hounds
Carrying Forward an Equestrian Tradition
For generations, riders and hounds have gathered at Woodbrook to participate in the tradition of riding to the hounds.
Today, that tradition continues through drag hunting, in which hounds follow an artificially laid scent rather than pursuing live quarry. The Woodbrook Foundation helps foster this living tradition so it can be experienced and passed from one generation to the next.
Horses, Hounds and People
Riding to the hounds brings together horsemanship, the working skills of the hounds, and a connection to the land.
Experienced participants share their knowledge with newer and younger riders, carrying forward skills and traditions that have been part of Woodbrook for generations.
sharing the tradition
A tradition stays alive when a new generation has the opportunity to experience it.
The Foundation supports opportunities for young people to learn about horses, hounds and riding to the hounds, helping Woodbrook's equestrian heritage continue into the future.
Woodbrook's equestrian traditions connect its past with its future. By helping sustain opportunities to learn and participate, the Woodbrook Foundation helps keep this distinctive heritage alive.
